Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers understand how community life works in practice: the customs people share, the choices behind a gathering or the small decisions that shape a local project. A strong idea is focused, useful to a broad English-language readership and respectful of the people and places it discusses.
What makes a good pitch
Send a short description of the proposed subject, the main question it will answer and why it suits Spirited Civic Report. Include the likely category, the points you would cover and any sources or permissions the piece would depend on. We are especially interested in original angles that explain a process or offer readers a thoughtful way to take part.
The right fit
We look for clear, self-contained ideas rather than broad essays about community in general. Pitches should avoid speaking for a whole neighbourhood, making unsupported claims about named groups or offering professional advice. Please say if the idea has appeared elsewhere or relies on material that cannot be shared.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; please wait for a response before sending a full draft.
